Why Janus v. AFSCME Is Important To Us

Today the Supreme Court overturned more than four decades of precedent by making fair share fees for public sector workers unconstitutional in the Janus v. AFSCME case. This case forces the entire public sector in California and across America into Right to Work.

What is this case and why is it important to us? Here’s a great explainer:

Essentially, Janus v AFSCME is an attack on unions meant to undermine our ability to protect working people in the workplace and in law. It is funded and promoted by giant corporations intent on stripping away hard-fought workplace protections.

While this doesn’t affect private sector unions like UFCW, it does strike a significant blow against public unions like teachers and firefighters. And we will likely be the next target.

Stand strong, stand together!
