Local 770's Web Site
Serving Members
As the largest private-sector local union in
the greater Los Angeles area, UFCW Local 770 is
proud to represent an ethnically and culturally
diverse membership of 30,000 men and women. They
work in retail food and drug stores, pharmacies
and medical laboratories, meat packing and food
processing plants. Local 770 also has an active
group of barbers and beauty culturists within
its ranks.
For nearly 60 years, Local 770 has been a
powerful voice for working people in L.A. We
have served our members through collective
bargaining, by organizing workers at non-union
companies and by proposing and actively
supporting legislation that benefits union
members as well as all working people.
We're proud of what Local 770 has achieved for
our members: the best contracts, the best wages
and the best protections for food and commercial
workers anywhere in America. Plus great health
plans, secure pensions and the dignity and
security that comes from a great record of
fighting and winning grievances and
arbitrations.
Local 770 also has a history of creating new and
better ways of communicating with people both
inside and outside the union. This Web Site is
one way of interacting with our union members,
other workers and the public. We have received
many positive comments about our web site from
other local unions.
This Web Site features announcements about union
events, information on how to help employees
organize at their own work place, the latest
editions of official Local 770 publications and
easy links to other Internet sources of
information on labor and union subjects. We have
also established an e-mail address so you can
forward your comments and ideas.
We will regularly update the information on the
Local 770 Web Site. Thank you for visiting with
us.
