Kaiser CLS Update: We’re Frustrated

Kaiser CLS Bargaining Update| July 8, 2025

We met with Kaiser on Wednesday, July 2, and today, Tuesday, July 8, to discuss our CLS/MLT contract where we continued to have discussions on our priorities. We had robust discussions about the grievance procedure as we want to find a way to expedite the process so that we can get a timely resolution to our issues. We also discussed how per diems are used and ways we can explore utilizing them more efficiently.

At the end of the day, we were able to sign one Tentative Agreement that contains small clean up language regarding timekeeping.

After today’s bargaining session, we’ve reached a point of frustration with Kaiser. We’ve had to remind the employer several times about embracing the interest-based bargaining mindset and the importance of working in partnership. We expected to be farther along after meeting for three months, but have not seen much progress. At our next session, we hope to see more movement from Kaiser on issues that are important to us.

We will meet with Kaiser again on July 23 and July 29. In the meantime, National Bargaining will occur next week, and the Alliance of Healthcare Unions will be holding three National Bargaining Town Hall calls, where you can hear about the latest developments in negotiations on our national contract.
