Kaiser Pharmacy Members Issue 10-Day ULP Strike Notice

Today, UFCW 770 Kaiser Pharmacy members delivered a 10-day ULP strike notice to Kaiser Permanente executives. An Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike will begin at select Kaiser locations in Local 770’s region on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 7am (locations below). With this action, we will be out there raising our concerns alongside the more than 31,000 UNAC/UHCP frontline registered nurses and health professionals who will also be on strike.

Under federal law, health care unions must provide at least 10 days’ notice before a strike to protect patient care and allow hospitals time to prepare. DO NOT WALK OFF THE JOB UNTIL YOU ARE CONTACTED BY YOUR UNION REP OR SHOP STEWARD.

Negotiations have been stalled for more than a month after Kaiser management walked away from the bargaining table. In December, UFCW 770 and other Alliance Unions filed Unfair Labor Practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), alleging Kaiser unlawfully refused to bargain in an attempt to bypass the agreed-upon national bargaining process and interfere with good-faith negotiations that had been ongoing since May 2025.

Last night, Southern California CLS/MLT members voted to authorize an unfair labor practice strike, and could join pharmacy members in a growing strike. CLS/MLT members: We have not issued a 10-day notice for CLS/MLT members yet, but we could do it at any time. If you walk off the job before the union declares a strike, you can be disciplined and/or fired. Right now, we’re still assessing the situation and developing the most effective strategy to ensure members get the contract they deserve. Remember, you will always be the first to know from your Union when we take action.

Kern Main/Admin members: since your contract doesn’t expire until next year, you can’t strike at this time, but you can support your UFCW siblings in this strike. This misalignment in expiration dates is one of our key priorities in these negotiations as aligning our contracts strengthens our collective voice and ensures we can stand together in true unity. 

Kaiser frontline pharmacy healthcare workers are striking to protest the company’s labor violations throughout negotiations that have prevented them from getting the fair contract they deserve.

Kaiser has engaged in the following Unfair Labor Practices:

  • Suspending national collective bargaining negotiations without cause.

  • Denying access to union representatives when workers request support.

  • Failing to provide information necessary for bargaining, making it impossible to negotiate in good faith.

  • Surveilling, intimidating, and interrogating workers over union activity, watching who wears pins, who attends meetings, and who speaks up.
