UFCW 770 is stepping up safety efforts in stores and demanding that companies follow California law and protect workers and customers.
We are increasingly hearing from our members about safety concerns in stores that affect workers and customers alike. Recent incidents have made clear that the companies can’t wait for something else to happen before they take safety seriously.
UFCW 770 is pushing the companies to follow California’s workplace safety requirements and make sure our members have the training, information and protections they need. This week, our organizers are conducting safety walks in stores, checking in with designated safety personnel and making sure workers understand their rights under California’s SB 553.
We never want to see another tragedy happen. But if an emergency does occur, our members should never be left waiting and wondering what to do. We need strong, clear protocols in every store so workers know how to respond, and know that their employer will be there to support them.
Keeping our members and customers safe has to be a priority every day, not just after something goes wrong.

Nuestros miembros merecen un lugar de trabajo seguro
UFCW 770 está reforzando la seguridad en las tiendas y exigiendo que las compañías cumplan con la ley de California y protejan tanto a los trabajadores como a los clientes.
Cada vez más, nuestros miembros nos están contando sobre problemas de seguridad en las tiendas que afectan tanto a los trabajadores como a los clientes. Los incidentes recientes han dejado claro que las compañías no pueden seguir esperando a que pase algo más antes de tomarse la seguridad en serio.
UFCW 770 está exigiendo que las compañías cumplan con las normas de seguridad laboral de California y se aseguren de que nuestros miembros tengan la capacitación, la información y la protección que necesitan. Esta semana, nuestros organizadores están recorriendo las tiendas para revisar las condiciones de seguridad, hablar con el personal encargado de la seguridad y asegurarse de que los trabajadores conozcan sus derechos bajo la ley SB 553 de California.
Nunca queremos volver a ver otra tragedia. Pero si ocurre una emergencia, nuestros miembros no deberían quedarse esperando sin saber qué hacer. Necesitamos protocolos claros y sólidos en todas las tiendas para que los trabajadores sepan cómo responder y tengan la tranquilidad de saber que su empleador estará ahí para apoyarlos.
La seguridad de nuestros miembros y de los clientes tiene que ser una prioridad todos los días, no solo después de que algo sale mal.
