Tomorrow morning, Monday, February 9 at 7:00am, more than 3,000 UFCW pharmacy and lab workers at Kaiser Permanente facilities across Southern California and Bakersfield will begin an Unfair Labor Practice strike.
This action comes after Kaiser management broke from the agreed upon national bargaining process, stopped negotiations, and violated federal labor law. Healthcare workers gave Kaiser every opportunity to resolve these issues and return to fair bargaining. Kaiser chose not to do so.
UFCW pharmacy and lab workers will take action at the same time 31,000 nurses and healthcare professionals represented by UNAC/UHCP enter their third week of a ULP strike. These actions reflect a shared commitment to speaking out against injustice and Kaiser’s illegal activities. Frontline healthcare workers will not be pushed aside or silenced when these values are at risk.
Community and union support is essential. Patients, families, and allies play a powerful role in supporting healthcare workers who keep our system functioning every day. When workers take action against unfair labor practices, they are also protecting access to safe, timely, and respectful care for the entire community.
