Kaiser Kern Main Bargaining Table Update

Kern County Bargaining Team Waiting for Management Responses on key proposals

Kaiser Bargaining for the Kern Main contract continued with two full sessions on July 21st and 24th. We reached tentative agreements related to sick leave for non-benefitted workers and recognition language on satellite locations.

We submitted written proposals for the company to consider: California healthcare worker minimum wages, career ladders, and countered on per diem shifts and grievance and arbitration.  CT Tech, Danielle Gutierrez, and LVN II’s, Raquel Mendoza and Elizabeth Estrada, provided testimony on the need for a career ladder.

Management responded to New Hire Probation Periods, Per Diem shifts and Vacation scheduling. Management failed to respond to key proposals like wage parity, longevity bonuses, and differentials.

Local 770 and the Alliance of Healthcare Unions will continue to escalate our campaign to win a contract that reflects our members’ values and needs.

We will meet with KP again on August 11 and 12 to continue bargaining the Kern Main contract.
