Kaiser Workers Rise Up for Safe Staffing and Quality Care

Kaiser | November 21, 2025

Kaiser workers demand real solutions as negotiations stall. Join us on December 6 to take action for our patients and our communities.

Once again, Kaiser Permanente came to the table without making meaningful movement on the issues that matter most to healthcare workers. They still refuse to address the real-world staffing and patient care challenges we have raised, and they have not offered fair, competitive wage increases that reflect the value of our work. And what’s worse is that they’re blaming us and our union for their stall tactics.

Even with KP’s lack of progress on core issues, we did secure important tentative agreements that strengthen member benefits and our long-term strategy. However, no agreement has been made regarding ATBs and the Alliance continues to hold strong to ensure you get the raises you deserve.

Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust (BHMT) Funding

BHMT benefits continue to exist because healthcare workers have fought for them at the bargaining table. With increased enrollment and rising program costs, expanded funding was essential.

We secured a 40 percent increase in BHMT funding, moving from 0.5 percent to 0.7 percent of payroll. This means 55 million dollars in additional resources over four years dedicated directly to member education, career development, and training.

Strategic Leadership Council (SLC)

We reached agreement with KP to form a joint Strategic Leadership Council that will address major nationwide challenges, including federal funding cuts and membership declines.

The SLC will:
• Create a high-level forum for national strategic discussions
• Require KP to share its plans for navigating these challenges
• Allow us to raise proposals on insourcing work and expanding internal care

Neither side is required to accept any initiative. Where there is agreement, we will move forward with action plans. Where there is not agreement, both Kaiser and the Alliance keep all their rights.

What’s Next

We will continue pushing Kaiser to address the real staffing, pay equity, and patient care issues impacting workers every day and to deliver the fair contract you deserve.

We are working to schedule more bargaining sessions and will let you know once those are confirmed.

Take Action

We need to keep showing Kaiser that Kaiser workers, our patients and communities are united, organized, and ready to fight for safe staffing, quality care, and a fair contract.
