BREAKING NEWS: 12,000 Stater Bros. Workers Overwhelmingly Authorize Unfair Labor Practice Strike

The First-Ever Unfair Labor Practice Strike Authorization Vote from Stater Bros. Workers Comes After Months of Alleged Unlawful Conduct by the Company
LOS ANGELES– Today, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) local unions representing 12,000 Stater Bros. workers announced an overwhelming membership vote in favor of authorizing their bargaining team to call for an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike against Stater Bros. for breaking the law by surveilling, interrogating, and discriminating against union members as the unions allege.
The Unions have charged Stater Bros. with the following Unfair Labor Practices:
Unlawful surveillance of members who have been active in the contract campaign
Discrimination of members on the basis of their union support
Unlawful interrogation of members
Bypassing the Unions and dealing directly with members about proposals under consideration in bargaining, and
Failure to provide information that the Unions requested in preparation for collective bargaining negotiations
The UFCW Stater Bros. Bargaining Committee said the following:
“This vote sends a strong message to Stater Bros.: We’ve had enough of their union-busting tactics that undermine workers and silence our voices. And if they thought Stater Bros.’ members could be scared away from standing up for our rights, they found out tonight that they are very, very wrong.
“We’ve never had to take an Unfair Labor Practice strike vote at Stater Bros., but the company has changed. Since March, we’ve pushed Stater Bros. for real solutions to short staffing, unsafe conditions, and unfair wages, but all we’ve seen is disrespect of our rights as reflected in these ULP charges.
“An Unfair Labor Practice strike is always a last resort, and we will continue to push Stater Bros. to do the right thing. However, we are united, and we are ready to do whatever it takes to defend our rights.”

More staffing and better working conditions for a better customer experience
Their contract expired on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Negotiations with Stater Bros. are scheduled for July 30 and 31, 2025.

Los trabajadores de Stater Bros. Votan Por Primera Vez para Autorizar una Huelga por Prácticas Laborales Injustas Después de Meses de Presunta Conducta Ilícita por Parte de la Compañía
LOS ANGELES– Hoy, las secciones sindicales del Sindicato de Trabajadores Unidos de la Industria de Alimentos y el Comercio (UFCW) que representan a 12,000 trabajadores de Stater Bros. anunciaron un contundente voto de la membresía a favor de autorizar a su equipo de negociaciones llamar a una huelga por Prácticas Laborales Injustas (ULPs) en contra de Stater Bros. por violar la ley al vigilar, interrogar y discriminar en contra de miembros de la unión, como afirman los sindicatos.
Las uniones han presentado cargos contra Stater Bros. con las siguientes Prácticas Laborales Injustas:
Vigilancia ilegal de miembros que han estado activos en la campaña de contrato
Discriminación de miembros en base a su apoyo a la Unión
Interrogatorio ilegal de miembros
Hacer a un lado a las Uniones y tratar directamente con miembros sobre propuestas bajo consideración en las negociaciones, y
No proporcionar información que las Uniones solicitaron en preparación para la negociación colectiva.
El Comité de Negociaciones de UFCW con Stater Bros. declaró lo siguiente:
“Este voto manda un fuerte mensaje a Stater Bros.: estamos hartos de sus tácticas antisindicales que debilitan a los trabajadores y acallan nuestras voces. Y si ellos pensaron que los miembros de Stater Bros. serían intimidados para no luchar por nuestros derechos, esta noche ellos se dieron cuenta que están muy equivocados.
“Nunca antes habíamos tenido que tomar un voto de huelga por Prácticas Laborales Injustas en Stater Bros., pero la compañía ha cambiado. Desde Marzo, hemos presionado a Stater Bros. para que dé soluciones reales a la falta de suficiente personal, condiciones inseguras y sueldos injustos pero todo lo que hemos visto es una falta de respeto a nuestros derechos como se refleja en estos cargos de ULP.
“Una huelga por Prácticas Laborales Injustas es siempre el último recurso y seguiremos luchando para que Stater Bros. haga lo correcto. Sin embargo, estamos unidos y estamos listos para hacer lo que sea necesario para defender nuestros derechos”.
