Grocery Workers From Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons and Pavilions Announce Unfair Labor Practice Strike Authorization Votes
ULP Strike Votes To Be Held After Months of Unlawful Conduct by Employers During Contract Negotiations
LOS ANGELES – Today, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Locals 324 and 770, together representing over 30,000 grocery workers, announced they will be scheduling Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike authorization votes next week following labor violations by Kroger and Albertsons throughout negotiations that have prevented workers from getting the fair contract they deserve.
The UFCW Local 324 and 770 Bargaining Committee said the following:
“When we started negotiating with Kroger and Albertsons on a new contract in February, we came to the table willing to put in the time and work to get a fair deal. But instead of working with us towards a reasonable contract, our employers would rather disrespect us to our faces, offer proposals that grossly underestimate our value and their wealth, and engage in multiple labor violations.
“Kroger and Albertsons’ unfair labor practices, from unlawful surveillance of members that have been active in the contract campaign, interrogation of workers at actions, threats, to retaliation for union activity, are nothing more than an attempt to strong-arm us into accepting an offer that is far less than what we deserve.
“Everyone deserves fair negotiations without fear of retaliation. We deserve fully staffed stores and fair pay that reflects our work. No one deserves to be bullied at work. By violating our rights, Kroger and Albertsons are making it harder to serve our customers and keep our stores running. That's why we’ve been forced to take this Unfair Labor Practice strike authorization vote.
“Moving forward, we will continue to stand together with our fellow UFCW members, our customers, and our communities as we take this important next step in making our voices heard.”
UFCW members at Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions in Southern California will start taking unfair labor practice strike authorization votes the first week of June. The results of the strike authorization votes will be announced after voting ends and our members are informed on June 11, 2024.

If approved, these actions would bring over 100,000 Kroger and Albertsons workers to the brink of a strike at the same time, creating a major labor disruption for two of the nation’s largest grocery chains this summer, their busiest season of the year.

LOS ÁNGELES – Hoy, los Locales 324 y 770 del Sindicato de Trabajadores Unidos de la Industria de Alimentos y el Comercio (UFCW), que representan a más de 30,000 trabajadores de supermercados, anunciaron que programarán votaciones para autorizar huelga por Prácticas Laborales Injustas (ULP) la próxima semana, tras las violaciones laborales cometidas por Kroger y Albertsons durante las negociaciones, que han impedido que los trabajadores obtengan el contrato justo que merecen.
El Comité de Negociación de los Locales 324 y 770 de la UFCW declaró lo siguiente:
“Cuando comenzamos a negociar con Kroger y Albertsons un nuevo contrato en febrero, nos sentamos a la mesa dispuestos a invertir tiempo y esfuerzo para lograr un acuerdo justo. Pero en lugar de trabajar con nosotros para lograr un contrato razonable, nuestros empleadores prefieren faltarnos al respeto en persona, ofrecernos propuestas que subestiman enormemente nuestro valor y su riqueza, e incurrir en múltiples violaciones laborales.
“Las prácticas laborales injustas de Kroger y Albertsons, desde la vigilancia ilegal de miembros que han participado activamente en la campaña del contrato, interrogatorio de trabajadores en acciones, amenazas, y represalias por actividad sindical, no son más que un intento de presionarnos para que aceptemos una oferta muy inferior a la que merecemos.
“Todos merecemos negociaciones justas sin temor a represalias. Merecemos tiendas con personal completo y un salario justo que refleje nuestro trabajo. Nadie merece ser acosado en el trabajo. Al violar nuestros derechos, Kroger y Albertsons dificultan la atención a nuestros clientes y el funcionamiento de nuestras tiendas. Por eso nos hemos visto obligados a votar para autorizar la huelga por prácticas laborales injustas.
“De ahora en adelante, seguiremos unidos con nuestros compañeros miembros de UFCW, nuestros clientes y nuestras comunidades en este importante paso para hacernos oír.”
Los miembros de UFCW en Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons y Pavilions del sur de California comenzarán a votar para autorizar huelga por prácticas laborales injustas la primera semana de junio. Los resultados de las votaciones se anunciarán una vez finalizada la votación y se informará a nuestros miembros el 11 de junio de 2024.
